Should I get compensation for writing an article….?

I am currently working in customer service at a manufacturing company as a temporary employee. The HR Generalist asked me to write an article for the company’s new, quarterly newsletter. They loved the article and will be printing it in their newsletter. Should I get compensated for my article since I am not an employee? If so, how should I determine the monetary amount?

You can ask but probably will not get anything. Note the experience, maybe see if you can pick up more writing gigs but next time, establish a rate beforehand.
